My Hair Game

I’ve been having some major challenges with my hair in the past year.  The length has been in this not quite short, not quite medium length stage, and I just couldn’t figure out what to do with it.  So I had many different scenarios from braids, wigs, falls, ponytails, and so on that I gave into.

A wig I made.
A weave I put in earlier this year.

So my hair has finally gotten long enough for me to comfortably wear it out every day.  Having gotten tired of the routine of “The Big Chop”, I have relaxed my hair.  I still follow my natural hair routine, but it’s so much more effective with a relaxer in it.

A few months after my big chop 3 years ago.

Big chop filling into a small afro puff.

The final days of natural hair.

Relaxer time.  Finally some manageability.

Pretty hair but I was still not happy with the length.

Each night in the shower I co-wash my hair.  I put in a leave in conditioner followed by a cream moisturizer.  I use a curl gel on each section of hair before I braid it or do a twist out. In the morning, I take my hair down hoping it is completely dry, and style it depending on that result.

Today I have my hair in a French braid down the middle, because it didn’t dry completely, and then got wet with today’s rains.  I think most people can identify with a love/hate relationship with their hair.  I am sure this won't be the end of my battle, but for now, I'm loving my hair.

Let it rain, I can now braid it up.
